You're right on all counts. It takes some experience to win and it takes special course knowledge at every PGA venue. His caddy probably could have been the difference, but wasn't.

In Abu Dhabi Robert Rock was faced with a decision on 18 that could have brought a big number into play and his caddy talked him into taking a drop instead of taking a chance.

Golf is very cerebral. I think his personal problems got to him and his mental game is off.

No, Tiger’s switch has been turned back on. A couple more shakes and webs tossed and it will be back. Or I could be totally wrong. Time will tell.

...unfortunately, Stanley didn't respect that pin position enough - as a young, non-winner, he should have either blown his second shot to the back of the green (or into the stands for a free drop), or after laying up, played his third to the right side of the green like a 10-handicapper. He chose the one option that brought triple-bogey in to the equation.

I couldn't agree with you more. On tour, the distance and accuracy of the players is incredible. They have to do something to make the holes challenging. A slippery green and a tight pin on a par 5 is common.

With a 3 stroke lead, Stanley had options as you made clear. But back when Augusta was difficult, they said what made it so difficult is that there were so many options.

The good news for Stanley is he's 24. He'll learn and do better next time.

True. He could restore himself. We will see.
