Voter in Ward 9 attempted to vote as a dead man, caught by moderator who knew dead man, Herald's Katy Jordan reports
And: Staff_reports @jordankaty Voter who attempted to use dead man's ID was testing system: "I could have gotten away with it. Couldn't I?" he reportedly said
In many states, incl. Mass., it is quite possible to walk into a polling place without ID, give someone's address and name (in that order) and receive a ballot, then use it to vote. Of course demanding to show ID would be racist.
Make way-Dead Dem voting!
Who did he vote for?
see, you can run the person's name, charge, and criminal background in the paper, but telling us who he voted for is violating the sacrosanct ethos of journalism.
And there is your proof that photo ID at the polling place works exactly as it is intended to. Which scares the crap out of the DemonRats.
And why do I think that this type of story wouldn't see the light of day if this were a Dem primary?
Racist! Unfair! Moderators should not be allowed to know any who could vote! Bigot!
ONLY a corrupt U.S.A. would allow such thing..
OH! WAIT!... this has been going on for decades...
And the arresting officer said, "oh, goodie, let's test it all the way to the trial. You are under arrest." /delusion, back to reality
My bet, Dem voting in Republican Primary using deadman’s ballot. Planned to vote for Ron Paul.
Class A misdemeanor and up to a $5,000 fine. Hit him for the full amount and see if he feels flippant then.
Have you noticed doctor’s offices, and even gyms, are having people’s picture taken and used for comparison to prevent fraud? If Gold’s Gym is doing it, shouldn’t Uncle Sam?
I live in Suffolk County Long Island. I have NEVER had to show ID when voting. I just went to the first booth, gave my address. He would then tell me which table to go to (it's usually the same head guy and he knows me, but not by name).
I go to the table, give my name, they look me up in their book and I sign my signature.
The ONLY thing someone would have to do to steal my vote is my signature.
Not a good forger? Put your writing arm in a sling. You should see the fools we have manning the station.
Signature? MA does not require one. You go to table:
“Hi, what street?”
“Main St., #75”
“Name?”
“John Smith”
(And, in primary elections:)
“Which ballot would you like?”
You vote and then go to a second table where once again
you are asked your address and name, then you slip the ballot into the machine. Signature? Not in Mass.!
Years ago unenrolleds like me would take a primary ballot then go to a table and sign something saying you would
like to go back to Unenrolled. Otherwise you would be
listed under the party ballot you chose, from then on.
This has been eliminated. Now you vote and go back
to Unenrolled automatically.
Heck, Motel 6 asks me for ID when I show up having made a reservation online...
But no, this would be racist, clearly. (not...)
No word yet. Katy Jordan of the Bos. Herald was asked,
“So what happened?” and “What polling station was that?”
Can’t find any further details in Bos. Herald.
Dead man voting: Texas man tries to cast posthumous ballot
By Joe Battenfeld | Wednesday, January 11, 2012 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Election 2012 Photo
MANCHESTER, N.H. A mystery man trying to vote in the New Hampshire primary using a dead mans name got caught by an eagle-eyed voting supervisor in Manchester, then disappeared before police could corral him.
We take a lot of pride in this primary, Gloria Pilotte, the Ward 9 supervisor who stopped the voter fraud, told the Herald.
Im very confident about the way we do this in New Hampshire.
The man, dressed in a suit and tie, did not say why he was trying to vote as the recently deceased person and would not identify any group he was representing.
He said, Youll soon find out, Pilotte said.
In past primaries, some candidates or groups have tried to challenge the results or demand recounts based on claims of voting irregularities.
The man, who admitted being from Texas, almost got away with the fraud. He came in to the polling place and gave election officials the name of a man who was still on the voter list. Voters here dont have to present ID if they are registered.
But Pilotte recognized the name and knew the man had died within the past 10 days. Pilotte said the voter list wasnt updated because the man had died so recently.
She suspects the fraudulent voter got the name by checking recent obituaries.
