North Carolina man allegedly tried to buy $476 worth of items with the outsized bill; largest bill in circulation is just $100

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Do you have change for a million-dollar bill?

Police say a North Carolina man insisted his million-dollar note was real when he was buying $476 worth of items at a Walmart.

Investigators told the Winston-Salem Journal that 53-year-old Michael Fuller tried to buy a vacuum cleaner, a microwave oven and other items. Store employees called police after his insistence that the bill was legit, and Fuller was arrested.

With a million dollar note I’d go to Nordstroms. They’re used to it.

Several years ago, a woman successfully passed a $200 bill with George W. Bush’s picture on it at a store in Greensburg, PA.

At least the Wal-mart staff was on the ball enough to sniff this one out as phony.

Mr. Fuller of brush fame? Buying a vacuum? Of course he would have a million.

Wonder if Mr. Kirby buys brushes with large bills? Probably.

The largest denomination that has ever been printed by the Treasury Department was this one in 1934.

It will be much easier to carry $100,000.00 worth of gold today than it was in 1934.

Old story: Some New York counterfeiters accidentally printed a huge pile of $18 dollar bills and decided to pass them off in West Virginia. They asked the clerk for change at a country store and his response was: “Do you want three sixes or two nines?” My Dad used to tell that one in the 50’s.

I wouldn’t give too much credit - it is not like a one million dollar bill is even a marginally believable scam.

Marginal scam? Soon we will all be carying around million dollar bills just to buy a loaf of bread. When the Messiah gets through with his lenninesque debauching of our currency, we will gaze on with envy the inflation that the Weimer Republic and Zimbabwe have.

The largest denomination that has ever been printed by the Treasury Department was this one in 1934.

The bills were never in circulation however. They were used to transfer funds between federal reserve banks.
