They evolve from existent species Highly unlikely, evolution takes far, far longer than the volcanic vents exist. The volcanic vent releases lava, which over a period of time becomes an island. These creatures are found at crushing depths (ie. young vents). This would imply instantaneous evolution - which we just don't see in nature.
