THOUSAND OAKS (CBS) — A toxicology report found that the 18-year-old son of a former NFL quarterback died from a heroin overdose, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said.

Thousand Oaks High School backup quarterback Griffen Kramer was found dead in his Agoura Hills home on Oct. 30.

Friends told investigators that Kramer began foaming at the mouth while doing heroin with them.

Authorities say one of his friends took him home and hoped he would sleep it off.

Police have arrested five people in connection with Kramer’s death.

Griffen Kramer’s father, Erik, played in the NFL for 12 years.

Poor idiot kids probably didn’t know anything about drugs....you don’t “sleep off” Heroin like if you drank too much Beer. If they had gotten Medical Help he might have lived.....

One shot of Narcan at the right time would have saved him.

My condolences to the family.

Despite anyone who thinks differently we never know what an 18 year old is up to.

The spoiled brats at Thousand Oaks high and Westlake high are 15-19 year olds with money, drugs, fast cars, alcohol and too much free time. I work with them regularly in my college classes. Loser kids with parents who could care less. Very sad. Oaks Christian is doing fine as well as La Reina Catholic.

It’s one of those sad things. I had a friend who went to Mexico with a bunch of friends and rode a 3 wheeler ATV in Baja and broke just about every bone in his body.

While he was recovering in a medica, they pumped him full of morphine and he got addicted. The only thing left for him in OC when he got back was heroin, and lots of it. I remember seeing a healthy beer drinking, rock-a-billy guy reduced to a begging-for-money skeleton.

It’s sad when your friends die while still alive.

My condolences. Now I see kids that zombie through class on Oxycontin and Percocet, as if nobody notices that they’re high as hell. Running to the drug is easier than running from it.

Teens can get post more easily than beer or cigarettes. Looks like the most effective way to keep drugs out of kids' hands is to legalize them for adults - so sellers have an incentive not to sell to kids (namely, the loss of their legal sales).

I am very sorry to hear this. Drugs are definately not an “individual” decision. They ruin many lives.
