Christmas Cartoon Featuring Santa‘s Demonic ’Helper’ Yanked From Travel Channel
The Blaze ^

The Christmas season is filled with television specials that remind us of our childhood. From “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer“ to ”The Grinch,” holiday favorites offer a lesson for viewers, while enabling them to celebrate and experience the Christmas spirit.

But when a new, animated holiday cartoon called “A Krampus Carol” was produced for the Travel Channel, it was apparently a bit too creepy and disturbing to be aired. So, executives decided to pull the plug.

Anthony Bourdain, a chef and television personality who hosts the Travel Channel’s “No Reservations” show, apparently wrote the short cartoon. He took the Austrian legend of Krampus, a mythical demon-like creature who accompanies Santa and punishes children who land on the “Naughty List,” and attempted to bring it to the small screen.

I guess getting coal is not such a bad thing after all. It beats having your limbs torn off and then eaten by a Krampus.

I never heard of Krampus, but apparently this Demon is as every part of Christmas in Austria as Rudolf is here in North America. The Travel didn't get away with trying to introduce this belief to America.

Video of the cartoon and the shocking Krampus parade are on the Blaze link.

Another reason not to like Anthony Bourdain. I actually liked his travel shows for the first several times I watched. Then they became increasingly Anti-American and highly repetative with his “jokes”...How many times can I watch a guy dump on the USA while traveling into a third world Country? I’m done with the Snobby Elitist NY turd.....

Black Pete was shocked at the news of his replacement.

I used to like Bourdain. He did a show with Ted Nugent. I noticed how left he was do not watch anymore. Sad because I liked the idea of his show.

The last one I watched was the one where he traveled the Mexican border. Needs to stick to food, which he talks about very well, and steer clear of politics and foreign policy, about which he is a moron. I guess children’s programming falls into the moron category, as well.

I think he overdosed on Absinthe, while in Paris. He was never the same after that. :0)

Well, that was quite a production. They surely must have spent tens of dollars on making that. Hardly impressive. However, the real question I have is what the intent might be in showing the portrait of Pope Benedict XVI on the wall of the naughty children’s house? Is this some intimation of anti-catholicism? Wouldn’t surprise me of course, but still, I do wonder.

The Krampus stories go back hundreds and hundreds of years and are part of local lore in parts of Europe. What’s next, get rid of Knecht Ruprecht, Belsnickel, Zwarte Piet, or Pere Fouettard?

I guess if someone doesn’t want to know about old stories and legends, complain until they are buried.

Did you notice that Krampus looks like George Soros? Must be returning to his WW2 haunts.

i liked tony’s show for its food and travel content. I stopped watching when I realized he loathed Texans but managed to get along well with his communist handlers in SE Asia.

I get that NYers can be all superior feeling when in fly-over country. I can even laugh at it. Tony takes this tale way too far when he doesn’t share the same superiority over the communists. He actually respects them.

Crazy.

His show is one of the few I occasionally watch though yes, he does often come across as an arrogant azz. I happened to see his Charlie Rose interview a month or so ago (first time to see CR in 7 yrs or more) and actually found Mr. Bourdain
likeable. I still find it annoying that he throws in random Bush or US bashes into select episodes though.
