This guy (Headmaster Rob Benzie) has become Scrooge in England, except he doesn’t provide even one lump of coal, because, well that would mess up his “carbon footprint”. This is just too bizarre not to pass on, thanks to The Daily Bayonet who writes:
A headmaster at a British school decided a great lesson in sustainability would be to turn off the heat for a day. In December:
Pupils at Ansford Academy in Castle Cary, Somerset, were forced to grip their pens through thick gloves and wear their coats and hats in class as temperatures dropped to 1C. The school’s headmaster, Rob Benzie, shut down the radiators as an experiment to show students how the school could cut its carbon footprint.
The headmaster is unapologetic and wants to do it again:
…headteacher Mr Benzie, 52, defended the day, saying it was ‘a success.’ ‘We turned off the heating as an experiment to see if we can lower our carbon footprint,’ he said. ‘We allowed pupils to wear as many jumpers as they liked and everyone seemed to be happy enough although it did get pretty chilly. ‘We gave letters to pupils to take home to their parents informing them about the eco day. ‘We only had one complaint and that came from a member of staff but they just got on with it in the end.’
Mr Benzie said he hoped to repeat the eco day again next term.
The local school authority and parents should probably teach Mr. Benzie the lesson that freezing children to push a radical green agenda makes his job unsustainable, before he does something really stupid.
Wuss. He should have waited until the tyemperature would plunge to 1 F. Then the students could watch as the radiators froze and exploded. And show them the $50,000 repair bill. Now that is gutsy!
Lucky for them no one I know was subjected to that ridiculous display of political correctness gone wild!

After reading this yesterday I went out in the back and burned a truck tire in recognition of his utter stupidity and to offset any gains he may have made for Gia.

Who does that man think he is trying to starve the trees of their precious carbon dioxide.
The parents, the media, and many commenters are blaming this School Principal, rather than the "reduced energy usage" mindset that he has (intentionally or unintentionally) EXPOSED for the insanity that it is.
All he did (whether he meant to or not) is present and make palpable the obvious consequences that follow from this kind of "carbon footprint" stupidity.
I'd say the day WAS a success -- or, rather, it would have been a success IF anyone had the sense to see what it means.
He could have taped his mouth shut for the day and probably reduced his carbon footprint even more.
1. Obviously insane policy is pushed by brainwashed retards who constantly and consistently ignore the PLAIN and OBVIOUS consequences of such policy/ideology while refusing to admit that such consequences would NECESSARILY follow from full implementation of said policy/ideology.
2. Someone actually puts said policy/ideology INTO PRACTICE.
3. PLAIN and OBVIOUS consequences NECESSARILY follow.
4. Everyone: A) ignores that the situation is the PLAIN, OBVIOUS, and NECESSARY result of implementation of said policy/ideology; B) continues to endorse said PROVENLY INSANE policy/ideology; and, C) blames, and berates as an idiot, the person who put it into practice.
I feel like crying.
These people need to be made an example of, and soon. Dark night, lonely alley, cricket bat (it is England) and butcher knife, “no idea who dunnit” example.
Turn off the heat forever you environmental freek and freeze to death!!!
If all envirnomentalists would do the above it would solve all our problems!

Oh, it WAS a great lesson in “sustainability”. Although perhaps not the lesson he intended to teach. Most of those kids will think “bull$h!t” whenever they hear the word “sustainability” for the rest of their lives.
A lesson in the saying the road to hell is paved with good intentions. If you want to sacrifice then do so but do not force others to do it with you, especially children.
