If he’d been dead for years, why didn’t the last administration say anything?
Because the dems would have demanded an immediate end to operations in iraq and afghanistan with the justification that the wars had been "won".
If Bush had claimed that bin Ladin was dead, without irrefutable proof, the press would have absolutely clobbered him, just as they did with the claim that Saddam Hussein had WMDs. He did, in fact, certainly have chemical weapons, which he used on some of his own people--and probably other weapons as well, which were removed from the country. But nearly everyone thinks that it was not true.
Is this story of Ann Barnhard's true? I have no idea. But it is, indeed, all too plausible. And it is certainly true that the long-form COLB posted on the White House website is a crude fake.
Letting the people believe that Osama was still alive allowed them to sustain support of anti-terrorist operations. Who was the boogeyman in 1984...Goldberg?
I had heard many years ago that Bin laden was on dialysis. There was no proof that he was dead, but nearly everyone thought so. This story is entirely believable to me. Too many “convenient” circumstances surround Bin Ladens death, and no proof.
Because it’s bigger then all of us.
We just think our administrations are in control.
Look how well 0bami has done?
Had to have more help then we could possibly imagine.
Another reason is that Bin Laden would be a martyr to the islamists. A Bin Laden on the run is a coward and can never be a martyr.
We need a boogeyman. Having a boogeyman helps to fund and support dumb laws that take away our rights and freedoms. Fox News believed he was dead in 2001-2002. I believe he was dead as well. Heck Benazir Bhutto claimed Osama was dead right before they blew her up. Zero lied and others covered it up.
Do you really think Al Jazerra would publish an obituary?
Because the democrats would have declared the war on terror over and quit the battlefield.
No material proof. ANd besides how do you think the media would spin GWB coming out and saying “Bin Laden is Dead” without any conclusive, material proof?
They’d say it’s another “Mission Accomplished” moment, and that he was saying it to boost the republican’s chances to keep the White House.
Among other things I am certain.
