Is the Republic, ie... the federal government worth saving?

In my mind, no, not any more. I don't want them, they don't do anything positive, they just bother me, and they cause problems. That's caused 3 divorces that I participated in.

No federal government works for me.

They will cut political deals with the Democrats, stab Conservatives in the back and spend us into further debt, either way it is a Obama second term.

You’re right, but you left out the part about there being no GOP opposition to the leftist ideas and the 2 more terms of this garbage instead of 1.

Guys, the problem isn’t that we can’t find anybody perfect in the field. The problem is that we’re having trouble finding anybody even adequate.

Hopefully, Cain will take himself off the stage and let the process play out. He didn’t “deserve” anything. He got a shot at it and I’m not sure we’re better off for it. I don’t care who he endorses. I have an idea who that will be. He stole the air from the room and made it all about him. His followers are totally undignified in their tantrum throwing and they make me feel we’re more vulnerable than ever. Do you realize they were willing to accept ANYTHING from this candidate? They made excuses for him. They blamed everyone alive for his plunge? They cried when he sang? They played the “yeah, but Clinton, yeah, but Obama game from the minute problems began. I’m embarrassed for them. They blasted people who were pulling for other candidates... then wanted those candidates to stand up and defend their guy. Many of them said they won’t vote now. Well, good riddance. We need listeners...thinkers....doers....fighters. We don’t need members of the pied piper party who whine and cry and blame. Too bad, your guy didn’t make it. Tough. My guy probably won’t make it either but I’m going to stand behind our candidate come what may. Cainiacs would not even allow for the possibility of supporting the gradual candidate. They found their own personal Messiah and probably downloaded his songs to include Imagine There’s No Pizza. Cain would not have dropped out if he had confidence in himself. He didn’t and Caniacs have wasted America’s time. We may have been able to convince others to vote with us to rid us of Obama but you guys blew it. We didn’t blow it. You did. Way to go. Watch his endorsement. You’ll get a better picture of the truth.

“I don’t understand those who are thowing up their hands, conceding the election to 0bama, and declaring the end of the Republic.”

The reason is that Herman Cain was the last real Conservative candidate not
marinated in Washington politics.

Newt has had his fair share of affairs, and those muddy waters are going to get stirred again. He reminds me of Nixon, only lacking Nixon’s good character and he is a lot meaner. Republicans need to get out of this pattern, and Cain looked like a good way to do it. I hope another option presents itself soon, or we are bound for another progressive disaster.

Because the frustration is not about losing Cain...

It’s about the fact that the media won.

And there it is. That, among other things, is why I'm frustrated! That, once again, those ghouls in the media are choosing our candidate so their pathetic excuse of a president will be able to skate back in the White House, because he can't run on his sorry record of destroying this country! I hate the media! They are truly the enemy!

Rubbing salt in the wounds very early there, Lou.

Me, I’m glad Cain’s out, but it would have been better if he’d been judged on his scanty political merits.

Agreed, one person can’t save it...the “chosen one” in DC is proving that. No, it takes a team effort at all levels.

Breitbart is right: “Politics is downstream of culture” and this is going to be a long, tough slog to change our institutions.

Much like Palin, I would like to see Cain involved in the process for 2012. The more unabashed Capitalists the better.

To all of the Cain fans, you just got a taste of the “Sarah Palin treatment”. Perhaps before certain people start tsk-tsking Palin and giving her the smack, you should take stock of what just happened.

The burn marks eventually disappear over time.

You contradict yourself - you admit Cain's business experience in administration, but attempt to deny that applies to running a government. Why?

Then you act like you are unaware that Cain was chairman and deputy chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve when you blather that he has no financial experience. Clearly he has a significant amount of that.

So, in both the areas that you pretend that Cain has no executive and administrative experience, he has plenty.

Some advice - learn WTF you are talking about before you criticize somebody next time. Your thread is worthless because of this.

Cain is infinitely more experienced than the current resident of the WH in what matters as far as what counts regarding the executive branch, and is probably among the most qualified candidates in this regard, period.

American voters are not looking for a "savior" for the country.

We simply want a responsible adult who can PRESIDE over its administrative functions, without deliberately destroying our economy, culture, and national security.
