Fukushima Plant May Have Emitted Double Radiation Than Estimated (now on Bloomberg.com)

(Bloomberg.com does not permit FR to excerpt or post links so I am paraphrasing some of the article in case anyone is interested in checking it out. The title of the Bloomberg article is shown before the parentheses in the title of this thread.)

Bloomberg.com has an article written by Tsuyoshi Inajima saying that, according to a study by European and US scientists, the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan may have released more than two times the amount of radiation estimated by the Japanese Government.

In June, Japan's regulatory agency said Fukushima discharged 15,000 terabecquerels of Cesium 137. (Freeper's Note: According to the IAEA, 31 different isotopes were released by the Fukushima disaster and this estimate of released radiation is only counting one of of them.) Now Eurpean and US scientists believe that 35,800 terabecquerels of radioactive cesium 137 was released.

Among other things, the report notes that the Fukushima plant began to emit radiation BEFORE the tsunami hit which would mean that the plant was substantially damaged in the earthquake - contrary to Japan's assessment.

right....now tell us something we don’t know.

Meanwhile tons of highly radioactive crap is slowly making its way towards Hawaii, and then to our west coast.

But some folks would prefer the ostrich position, and not to worry about anything but Snooki and her gay cat.

Thank you for the good link. I see that the release of radiation is spoken of in the past tense with no mention that the molten cores are spewing radiation into the atmosphere around the clock for the foreseeable future. Well, it’s still good to see Fukushima in a major newspaper now and then - not just the back waters.
