What is a video accelerator? I think it’s called a virus. New video card or new processor / PC would be all you need. Anything you see advertised as a “video accelerator” is quite BS.

Blah, Swordmaker and I seem to be the only ones that always know what the problem is. Its the operating system, d’oh.

Attempting to compare HP PC specifications to Toshiba laptop(which has no video problems), and realizing the comparison can not be made, the only obvious difference I saw was that the Toshiba system includes a video accelerator.

Bearing in mind, I know nothing...I did a search on video accelerators...FREE! and of course offering me the universe.

OK, I'm going to ask, is there a way for me to determine my best option: 1. video card. 2. Upgrade to Windows 7. (3) New PC?

Tell us what your system specs are and we’ll help you along.

Most free video accelerators are BS, on top of that, if your PC sounds like it’s wheezing towards death just before the video goes black, it could be multiple problems, including a hard drive that is too slow, a cpu that is too slow, not enough RAM, incorrect windows cache settings, etc.

there should be a cheap and effective solution, but you’ll have to give us the specs for our suggestions.

Also, what do you mean by HIFI video?
Hi-FI is for audio, and is also a generic description for a top end audio component system.
HiDef is for video/audio.

I think you mean HiDef, or I’m confused as to the fact you are playing your worship over your audio component system?.

Maybe just get a new pc with Windows 7 on it. I would suggest wait until Windows 8, but I have no idea when that is coming out.

Those specifications are completely fine for any video. You may just be downloading from a slow server. Try to save the file first, then play it, rather than stream it in real-time.

Cheapest way to go is to check to see if your video card has been allocated all of the available 256MB of RAM. Somewhere in your BIOS has a tab to adjust the amount of memory dedicated to the integrated video card.

Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
Turn on the computer and immediately press the F10 key repeatedly until a BIOS Setup screen opens.
If nothing happens, press the F1 key repeatedly.

Read this link, scroll down to the Advanced Tab:

Onboard Video Memory Size (The amount of memory taken from system memory to be used by the onboard video hardware)

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07110&tmp_task=setupCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&os=2093&product=3436817

In the ADvanced Tab, find this:
Onboard Video Memory Size (The amount of memory taken from system memory to be used by the onboard video hardware)

Switch this setting to 256MB, then press F10 to Save and Exit BIOS, then try your HiDef video and see if you still run out of memory...

My proper suggestion would be to buy a video card.
You can take a look at these links to find the optimal video card for your price point. If you are otherwise satisfied with your current PC set up except for this one problem, you should be able to buy a new video card for under $40 delivered. Make sure you buy a video card that is compatible with your monitor, i.e. the connector, if it is VGA, DVI-A, DVI-D, or HDMI.

First off, ask around, someone you know probably has an older video card that you could use.

Otherwise, look for something like a nVidia GeForce GT 220 or AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6450 DDR3. Cheap cards used for HomeTheaterPCs and office machines. Personal recommendation is the Radeon HD 6450 since it draws less power and runs cooler.

Thank you so much! Onboard Memory Size only switches to 128MB, but that’s enough to run the HIFI video!
Obviously, we need a new video card. I’ll look carefully at the info you sent.
We’ve moved to a very rural area. “Choose in haste, regret at leisure.” It’s a big treat to be able to watch the live services of the church we used to attend, and see the people we know.
You have greatly expanded my computer knowledge, solved a problem that we were blaming on our satelite connection for months, and brightened my life.
Thank you for your time and effort!
