Vanity

Posted on 10/20/2011 6:34:00 PM PDT by Retired Chemist

Just tried to access my DVD Queue on Netflix and it is gone. Called customer service and was told they deleted some Queues when making software changes and were working to get them back.

I hear the that the NYT is coming out with a special addition covering your plight and all news networking are breaking away from their scheduled programming.

Sign in to your account and go to the option CANCEL ACCOUNT. I did and it feels good. I used to like Netflix until they went insane.

I’m convinced that the upper management at Netflix has shorted all of their stock. They are doing everything they can to drive it into the gutter. Every couple weeks they make the news with one disaster after another.

Look at this as an opportunity to build a newer, better DVD queue.

It's not a bad idea to purge a DVD queue every now and then. You spend years building up a DVD queue on Netflix and before you know it, you start jumping movies up the queue because you really aren't in the mood to see that movie that made it to the top of the queue.

For instance, consider my own Netflix DVD queue (which was not deleted as I just checked): At the top of my queue is "Raising Arizona" which I really did not want to see so I jumped "Napoleon Dynamite" ahead of it. I'm not sure exactly when I added "Raising Arizona" to the queue in the first place. I hadn't seen the movie in maybe 20 years and all I remember about it was some baby getting kidnapped and a bunch of diapers getting dumped into the street during a car chase. Chick flick if there ever was one. So how exactly did it end up in my queue? I...don't...know.

See what I mean? It's crazy keeping a DVD queue for years and years.

Any you know the craziest thing of all? Once I put a movie in my Netflix DVD queue, it never gets removed. Ever. It's like once I commit to watching a movie, I'm going to watch it eventually hell or high water. Even though I spend the next few years jumping other movies ahead of it because I just can't bear watching "Trading Places" yet again. Yet somehow it got into my queue because maybe in a drunken moment online, I remembered the funny scene where Dan Ackroyd gets arrested and has the policeman removing Opera tickets from his wallet and Ackroyd has to sheepishly explain to him that it's "an Opera." Or the time that Eddie Murphy is riding in the limo with those two rich guys who made a $1 bet whether he would succeed or not and Eddie Murphy thinks they are a couple of perverts. Or maybe that scene where Jim Belushi is on the train and they are having a New Year's party and such.

At any rate, "Trading Places" has been sitting in my DVD queue pretty much ever since I first got Netflix and yet it has never been delivered because I keep jumping other movies past it. Yet I figure I'll want to see it again someday so it stays in the queue.

I really, truly hope that Netflix screws up again and deletes my DVD queue because I really need a fresh start here. Looking through my queue, I see a bunch of lame-ass movies like "My Cousin Vinny" and "Apollo 13" and "Arthur". How the hell did "Arthur" get in there? I hate Dudley Moore, God rest his soul. All I can tell you is that I must have been drunk when most of those movies got in there. My DVD queue really needs a "spring cleaning" if you get my drift.

On the other hand, there are some cool sounding movies in my DVD queue that I would like to see if I ever get around to seeing them make it to the top. "The Big Lebowski", "Fargo", "Kill Bill" for example. However, sometimes my wife will sneak in there and stick some chick flick like "Bride Wars" hurtling to the top of the queue and next thing you know, I'm sitting on the couch on a Saturday night, trying to surf the Free Republic on my laptop while my wife keeps nudging me to see if I'm paying attention to the movie.

Yep, I need a purge of my DVD queue. Netflix...please make it happen pronto!

I dropped them very recently. They now claim that I owe them for my last DVD which they claim I did not return. (A lie. It got sent back the day after I received it. The movie sucked and I did not even watch it all.)

9 years as a customer and they claim I did not return the very last DVD.

Die Netflix scum.

After the massive Netflix price increase why do you still have a DVD queue? Stick it to them for a change and go to streaming only or cancel all together.

I don’t go to movies so I like getting the newly released DVD’s. $7.99 is not a bad price for 1 movie out at a time unlimited.
