Although a die hard Red Sox fan, I was pulling for the Tigers in the playoffs. Had so hoped they'd make it to the World Series.

I'm a Red Sox fan myself, but I was enjoying the best of both the Tigers and the Rangers. If the Tigers had survived somehow, they'd have put up a grand World Series against either St. Louis or Milwaukee.

Now that I think of it, though, there's an excellent chance that a) baseball will continue to be the sport---without a salary cap---that produces more world champions since the advent of its free agency era than the NFL, the NBA, and the NHL (with salary caps) have produced (yes, you can look it up), especially if it's the Rangers vs. the Brewers in the Series; and, b) Nolan Ryan could become the only man in baseball ever to win a World Series ring as a player (the 1969 Mets) and as an owner . . .
