I feel the same way. I thought she would see the state of the country and understand that it needed her. Not a whole lot of optimism, but we have to keep on moving forward.

he said that about FDR. But it could be applied to any person in the United States ! including the people in the teachers union.

Wendell Willkie was the Republican nominee in 1940 but died before the end of the term he was running for--a victim of Tecumseh's curse without even winning the election. (His vice-presidential running mate also died in 1944 so wouldn't have completed his term.)

At the Yalta conference in Feb. 1945, Winston Churchill at one point mentioned how Willkie had visited and Churchill had given him a copy of his policy on something. FDR then asked, "Was that what killed him?"
