Kodak shares plunge as bankruptcy fears escalate

Investors dumped Eastman Kodak's stock Friday amid fears that the photography pioneer is headed toward bankruptcy.

After its stock lost more than half its value in a volatile day of trading, Kodak tried to paint a rosier picture. "Kodak is committed to meeting all of its obligations and has no intention of filing for bankruptcy," the company said in a statement. The reassurance lifted Kodak shares in extended trading, but the rebound wasn't enough to undo the damage sustained in a brutal week for a hallowed name in U.S. business.

Good riddance!

In recent years Kodak concentrated on becoming a politically correct corporation with indoctrination courses and the HR department acting as enforcers.

When I think back
On all the crap I learned in high school
It’s a wonder
I can think at all
And though my lack of education
Hasn’t hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall

Kodachrome
You give us those nice bright colors
You give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world’s a sunny day, oh yeah!
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So Mama, don’t take my Kodachrome away

Adding insult to injury, as the stock plummetted, the EK_MFers had the gall to sponsor ads in the local Gannett rag touting their diversity.
Then they went after the retirees, the very people who MADE the company, and reneged on their benefits.
Antonio Perez, (who sits on Zero's job council) will forever be known as the man who destroyed a legend, and stole from old people.

Time it was, and what a time it was, it was
A time of innocence, a time of confidences
Long ago, it must be, I have a photograph
Preserve your memories; They’re all that’s left you

— Simon and Garfunkel

If I remember correctly, S&G cut this little ditty for a Kodak commercial. Not sure it was ever used.

Pretty soon Kodak itself will be just a memory. How ironic.

Why? Kodak is one of the worst companies for enforced political correctness in the whole United States. I've been boycotting them for years. It serves them right that in concentrating on political correctness, they've lost the competitive edge to allow them to develop industry leading digital imaging products to replace their silver halide technologies. They've been living off their old reputation and goodwill for too long.

In the mid 1980s, EK employed about 65,000 in this city alone. Today employment is about 18,000 - world wide. Xerox hasn't done much better.
But Rochester (Monroe County) can still be proud of the fact that it has the highest property taxes in the country.
Rochester - a great place ... 50 years ago.

Well that's a product that was introduced in 1935 for 8mm and 16mm motion picture film and 1936 for 35mm still cameras.

Although I never figured why he used a Nikon camera, instead of a Kodak.
