I was just talking to my daughter about this the other day. I was telling her how in was in Jurrasic times. : ) When ATT WAS the phone co. nationwide. Now with the advent of cell phones we have Verizon, ATT and Sprint gobbling up smaller cell companies...soon ATT may very well be the only phone company once again! Weird.

also, i should have said after the monopoly was broken up at&t couldn’t survive in competition.
anyway, it’s a long story, but only the name at&t survives.
