Chiclets ARE still around. The author didn’t bother to note that Chiclets were the first marketed gum (originally made from chicle).
Tab is relatively easy to find, as well.
Diet Rite, not Tab, started the diet cola thing, and Diet Pepsi was about as big as Tab. Fanta (to respond tosomeone else is Very much alive and even promoted. Pepsi’s Slice, briefly popular, seems to have disappeared, though the older and more obscure Patio barely exists in some areas.
Before anyone dissed Hydrox... THEY invented the product, which Nabisco stole. Hydrox was popular in Jewish areas because they were kosher. Nabisco used to use lard in everything except Triscuits. Hydrox still exists only as a topping I kosher friendly Carvel Ice Cream shops afaik.

You can still buy all the Chicklets you want off the street kids peddling them on the bridge at Laredo ... evidently the gum of choice in Mexico.
They're not. I just saw them at the dollar store last week. Peppermint, I think. Package was yellow, anyway.
Maybe the packets of the little fruity ones are gone, it's been forever since I've seen those.
