4/3/60 "The Double Exposure Matter" Matter #685 Bob Bailey, Marvin Miller (Frederick Keeley), Peter Leeds (Peter Upman), Jack Moyles, Ralph Moody, Bartlett Robinson (Barton Winfield Oliver), Eleanor Audley ("Ebie" Eberhardt), Sandra Gould (Janet Upman) ; Writer/Producer/Director - Jack Johnstone ; Announcer - John Wald ; Expense Account Total = $17.20 ; A lesson in how to rob a bank. You think Dollar is kidding? Well he's not. You see, it is also a lesson in how to get caught doing it. Matter of fact, it involves a modern, clever, scientific device that not very many people know about. If more of them did, well, believe him, there would be a lot less futile attempts at bank robbery. And it is this very device that helps Dollar solve he investigates by providing a picture - a simple snapshot that didn't turn up, but which gave him all the evidence he needed. A fighting Irishman apparently cashes the same $3000 check twice. Frederick Keeley, Masters Insurance and Trust Company, Hartford, calls Johnny about his red-haired client Peter Upman, age 33. Records indicate that he endorsed, and cashed a $3000 beneficiary check that was sent to him from his Aunt Elizabeth's insurance. Now he is claiming he never got it and is asking for the $3000. Is he trying to scam the insurance company or did someone forge his signature? Upman's attorney, Alfred R. Price, says Peter owns a small electronics shop, and is the only child born into his wealthy family who ever amounted to anything. Only recently, though, was he made an heir in his father's will , but only if he remains free of scandal until the age of 35. His 31 year old sister Janet, and older brother Edward and younger brother Paul are lazy. Barton Winfield Oliver, New Milford People's National Bank President, says that they have installed a Photo Register, which takes a picture of every person at the teller's window. It worked very well at first but in recent times the pictures have been blurry and indistinguishable. However, Oliver has not seen fit to have it fixed because people think it works and as such it is serving well as a deterrent. He also says that one of his tellers, Mrs. "Ebie" Eberhardt, swears that Peter Upman cashed the check. On the way to Dollar and Oliver, "Ebie" bumps into Jim and calls him Walter. She is badly in need of a new glasses prescription and thinks that Johnny's gun is a pipe. Johnny figures out that Paul impersonated Peter to throw some scandal on him and the half-blind Mrs. Eberhardt was unable to tell the difference. WOW ! I’m a collector as well from a wide variety of sources in the past, mostly from the SPERDVAC lending library. Nowadays there is so much available free on line it boggles the mind.
