Could $12 Trillion Really Be Right? Absolutely! (The latest liberal lies)

Complete Proof of the $12 Trillion Republican Debt

Just below you can see the calculation and the documentation links for the Reagan-Bushes $12 Trillion ($12,049 Billion) national debt as of September 30, 2010. You can download this as an excel spreadsheet by clicking: Download as XLS.

Their debt has 4 parts, but the bulk of it is calculated from 4 inputs (yellow and tan) that you can check with the color coded links to the treasury at the bottom. This will verify the $3.4 Trillion Reagan-Bush debt and the $6.1 Trillion G.W. Bush debt. Together that's $9.5 Trillion. Now some of G.W. Bush's debt is really interest on the Reagan-Bush debt, so he is not as bad as he looks, and Reagan-Bush are lot worse because of all their interest. You can see that in the graph above.

Interest is calculated on the second sheet (tab at bottom). But you know that 17 years of compound interest on 3.4 Trillion is going to add a lot. So a $12 Trillion total is very believable, and if you want to spend 10 minutes you can check it easily.

And if you think Congress did it, you better have a look here. Under Reagan and Bush-I, Congress actually made the debt a tiny bit smaller than what both presidents asked for. And G.W. Bush passed his supply-side tax cuts with a Republican Congress. There is just no wiggle room. The Republicans did it.

I note their graph imputes the debt that Bush incurred...all the way to the end of 2009...ignoring all that Obama did not only in 2009, BUT what he did while directing Congressional super-spending [which the rats controlled both houses for all practical purposes] ...in 2008 as "The Office of the President Elect"

It is true that the national debt doubled during the Reagan administration and almost doubled under Bush II.

When talking about the debt, only charts of who controls Congress make any sense to me. The President can wrangle and occasionally veto spending, but it's the Legislative Branch that spends the money. Even if the President is screaming for additional spending, Congress has the final word.

Why didn’t the democrats just raise the debt limit to $20T when they controlled congress?

I thought the same thing. They left out most if not all of Obama’s reckless spending.

I believe this to be accurate. Bush was president for 8 years with 2 wars and 9/11. What I have a hard time swallowing is the fact that in just 1 year in office he managed to do 1.25 Trillion damage to the economy. This chart ends with 2009. I wonder what the total to date is? I’m guessing pretty high since they didn’t bother to mention it. So to get this total they didn’t factor in 2010 and 2011 and definately didn’t factor in healthcare since it will be someone elses problem. There’s that creative liberal math again. I’m surprised that it didn’t show a savings...

Obama’s accumulated a lot of debt, too, and the author(s) didn’t emphasize that enough. But yes, there’s been much port shipped home from Uncle Samantha over the years. That’s why local governments are so regulated (or mobbed) up.

the dems took control of congress...where all spending originates..in 2006. THEIR programs...Social Security and Medicare..account for the bulk of 100 Trillion of outstanding Federal Obligations.

It overlooks the fact that George W. Bush never signed the 2009 budget - in fact, he promised to veto it. That budget - and all the spending thereof - was signed by newly-elected President Obama. He bears the “fruits” of 2009.

And in less than 2.5 years, the AnointedIdiot has accumulated/added over $4+ trillion to the national debt. I reckon that the progressive libtards will not be satisfied that they add another $8 trillion to the national debt in what is left of the AnointedIdiot’s reign, huh?

Newsflash for the progressive libtards: This country will be bankrupt before then, so keep blaming Repubs so as to DEFLECT from your own miserable spending of TRILLIONS.....=.=

Attempts to pin spending on Republican presidents is beyond infantile. Like Reagan and the Bushes (other than W's idiotic part D) had any control over entitlements, that account for the large bulk of all spending.

Democrats initiate programs that take on a life of their own and are immune to any rationality. Then, in Peewee Herman fashion, try to blame others for the disasters they created.

What would have been their reaction of any Republican president had actually succeed in reigning in the entitlements they created?
