"We need all the good nurses we can get in Texas, especially if they are conservative. It is really hot and dry in Texas this particular summer but the spring and fall are spectacular and the winters are not bad at all."

Thank you. That is exactly the info I was looking for. Our summers are not only hot but HUMID. I don't know which is worse. But our summers here, we go from 1 air conditioned place to another.

When you say "the winters are not bad at all." does that mean I don't have to shovel 2 feet of snow just to get to work?

Spring and fall are my ABSOLUTE favorite seasons!

The only part of the state that gets much snow would be in the panhandle area. Around the rest of the state, everything comes to a standstill if we get a couple on inches.

If you move to Amarillo, maybe. Houston? You'll probably never see any of the white stuff ever again.

I've never shoveled snow in my life. Last winter's ice storm in February, however, was a doozy. Five days I missed work. Only time in 55 years I've ever seen that. Gore is an idiot.

The medical center in Houston is freaking amazing! I loved working there when it was still young- 15-20 years ago. NASA folks living down there are conservatives. Lots of old family money from oil rooted there.

Downsides would be that it’s Harris County. They let a lot of people out of jail there due to overcrowding. Plus lots of Katrina folks rode the buses there and never left.

More pluses...It’s not NY. It’s not Austin. You couldn’t pay me to live in Austin. “Keep Austin Weird” makes them proud. DFW is where I am, and I swear every other person is here from California, NY or NJ. Like me - I’ve lived half my life in NJ.

But like I said, the medical center is one cool place. Everything you could ever imagine medicine-wise right there.

Getting used to the no-season year took a few years to get used to, but that’s what airplanes are for. I’d much rather live without seasons if it means lower taxes, lower cost of living, and less liberals to annoy me all year.

Much good luck to you. :)
