Houston is hot, humid, large, and mostly lib.

But ... you’re near the coast and not a far stretch for visiting New Orleans for an occasional getaway. Excellent beaches are just a bit further into Alabama.

Suburbs of Houston are going to be more conservative. I’d recommend Katy, Conroe, The Woodlands, or Sugarland.

Positives: It’s Texas. It’s not NY. Texas is conservative. Proximity to the Gulf.

Negatives: Large city. Liberal (but not as much as Austin). The occasional hurricane. And as mentioned ... hot and humid.

We have that here on Long Island as well. But is it year round?
