Yep. Stein really made an ass of himself.
he confuses correlation with the cause
I saw it and was disgusted by how he’s become a Menshevik/Bolshevik. I used to like him.
I didn’t watch him because I heard he was advocating more taxes and I’m disgusted enough today.....and every day.
He sold out long ago. I’m sure he knows the truth, but he wins points with Hollywood pals if he tells the lies on TV.
Also, he fails to mention that Federal spending as a percentage of GDP was lower than it is today.
What’s strange, is he recently wrote an article stating that an increase on his taxes would be a punishment.
I didn’t see it but one thing everyone needs to think about is that is have the tax laws become where the wealthiest don’t pay any taxes? My guess is that is what he was trying to say.
How do you tax extra high the job makers and get more money or job in the economy?
I’ve seen this idiot Stein on “The CBS Sunday Morning” show a number of times the last several years.
Stein’s conversion to moon-battery happened some time ago.
He once said, “Raise taxes on the rich.....the government needs the money.” Yeah, right. The guy is a friggin’ nut.
Ben sounded like he sold out or perhaps The Messiah has one of his kids in a tight spot. I used to like the guy.
See the video here.
The truly “Wealthy” don’t pay taxes in the sense people refer too, and never have. Just like corporations, they simply pass on the cost of doing business to someone else, or incorporate, or set up a trust. They are those with the means to not only avert taxation, but are, in fact, those who write the tax laws.
The (rapidly eroding) middle class really pays all of the taxes (production class if you will). I suppose some could say that the “rich” pay taxes, but that depends on where you end middle class, and upperclass, and wealthy.
Claiming that one can “tax the wealthy” is like chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The truly wealthy are those who are doing the taxing. Just like the original concept of an income tax was meant to be upon the wealthy, the elite wrote not only the tax code, and the loopholes to allow themselves to incorporate (in order not be subject to the taxes), they convinced people to support the taxes that winded up only harming themselves.
By far and large, the sword of justice is foisted upon those who are trying to impose their own “justice” on someone else. Hence the lower class remains in the sullied state, because they are too busy trying to impose regulations on the elite, that they only end up hurting themselves, and the middle class suffers the collateral damage.
He could write a check to BHO if he is so sure taxes should be raised. If he gave 95% of his money (gross) I’m sure he could stand up and lead the rest of the “rich”.
Sure Ben, lets just drive the last remaining hope for our recovery, people who still have some wealth right out of the country.
“He claimed that the greatest economic growth in our nation’s history occurred when taxes on the wealthy were highest”
Taxes that no one actually paid because of all the deductions that were available at the time. Very few people back then actually qualified for those high tax brackets.
He was channeling his daddy, Nixon’s economic advisor. How did that turn out?
His hypocrisy is that he’ll advocate it and use himself, rich, as an argument. But he’ll then write on his “diary” at American Spectator how he’s so hurting and how much everything costs, etc.
All while owning about 3-4 homes, staying in 4 star hotels, etc.
He’s one of those 50/50 guys.
This is true. But it is not true that it happened when "tax rates" were the highest.
