Conservatives should support increasing "revenues." (Vanity)

Posted on 06/20/2011 2:32:55 AM PDT by FroggyTheGremlim

Republicans should support targeted "Revenue Enhancements."

TOPICS: Business/Economy
KEYWORDS: revenue
This idea struck me today after watching the Sunday talk shows and listening to Democrats blather about "increasing revenues."

They claim that corporate profits are up and they just have to tax more.

Republicans and Conservatives usually sit there with their thumbs up their ***** and say nothing other than "small businesses make jobs." It doesn't fly. Democrats keep it up with their "increase revenue" BS again and again.

So I had this idea and I want to share it with FReepers.

I suggest that Republicans say "OK, we favor increasing revenues to reduce the debt. We propose targeted revenue enhancements. We will draft our "Fair Revenue Enhancement to Reduce the Debt Act" which taxes at a modest 45% (forty five percent) of the assets of such businesses and groups as:

Who can deny that members of the above are:

I disagree.
How about we just target registered Democrats.
They suck the government teat way more than republicans.
That would make more sense than higher taxes for the biggest producers.
And more biblical. (Jesus parable about the talents)

"How about we just target registered Democrats."

Wouldn't work. It's too easy to change registration.

The problem with this is that you are agreeing with the Democrat mantra, "Take from the rich and redistribute to the 'poor.'" After that, it's all haggling over minor details.

We can't let them win like that.

There is no "revenue problem" in Washington DC. There is a spending problem!!!

"Revenue enhancements" as you call them don't address the spending problem. The reality is that taxation at levels over 20% of GDP have never worked. Attempting to tax at rates that would lead to revenues at that level just slows down the economy by reducing growth.

Spending now is at near (over?) 25% of GDP. There's no way to raise enough revenues to sustain that. It won't happen. No amount of "Hope" will "change" that.

Then, even with "revenue enhancements," Democrats will then want to "invest" the additional revenue in their failing socialist programs.

This country is rapidly becoming a larger version of Greece and Spain. And the end could be only weeks or months away (not years or decades). There are only a few things that have helped us so far. Mainly, 1) The U S Dollar is the "reserve currency" of choice around the world and 2) Our debasing of our currency has allowed the rest of the world to devalue their currencies, easing some of their own debt problems. That has in many ways eased the inflation that should have been triggered by the currency manipulations. So long as everyone does it, prices of finished goods stay mosty in balance. The inflation has been limited to the raw materials and bulk commodities markets. Energy (gas and heating and cooking fuels) and food prices have risen, and that's part of what has triggered unrest and violence in some countries. If we go to far with that monetary policy, things will degrade very quickly here in the USA.

Yet, if we don't continue, the GDP "growth" will halt. The truth is that the "growth" number has been artificially inflated by monetary policy and the currency manipulation. Many believe that if you factor in money supply factors and the real effects of QE and QE2 and other Federal Reserve monkey motion, the GDP has been flat or even shrinking continually since 2008.

I agree, and this touches on a more general point that is extremely important. Liberals are the ultimate hypocrites, and their hypocrisy must be pointed out over, and over again. When this is done it scores points and makes the enemy on the left play defense. They do this to conservatives all the time with cries of racism, fascism etc., and the tables need to be turned as often as possible.

Anyone who receives government largesse should be banned from voting for one calendar year thereafter.

How about we tax welfare and low incomes at the same rate that we tax employers and productive people? If 29% or 35% or whatever is good enough for Bill Gates, it’s good enough for everyone. We’ll see how long the push for “revenue enhancement” carries on when everybody is treated equally.

Tax all welfare payments at the highest marginal tax rate.

This would give people a reason to vote for lower tax rates for everyone.

We should also only send tax refunds to people who actually pay taxes. Some people don't pay any Federal Income Taxes and still get a refund.

i don’t want to help fix the current situation.

why not?

it’d help the progressives get out from under the mess they’ve created, allowing them to continue screwing my country.

i went Galt for this reason. once 0bama and crew are gone, i’ll deal myself back in.

until then, they can twist in the wind until they rot, for all i care... i sure as hell won’t help cut them down from the results of progressive control

We have a spending problem and not a revenue problem... and Americans cannot take more taxes... and corporations are taxed more in America than anywhere else in the world... and we have no jobs... and 2007 saw more revenue coming in than at any time in US History... and in the years since... the dims raised spending to astronomical levels and taxes and fees have been levied and marxism has taken hold in corporate America with government ownership of industries... and you are wrong... we should cut spending and hang anyone trying to stop us.
