I would thing that camo patterns would be all about breaking up the visual lines human eyes use to differentiate objects. If the Marine camouflage is truly better, then so be it. They’re all on the same side.
I would agree if you could convince me that camoflage (tricking human visual perception) is more science than art -- which it isn't. Plus camoflage uniforms are necessarily a compromise based on the surroundings that are anticipated in combat theaters which the forces are oriented on. This would mean that there is plenty of room for variation while still having effective camoflage for the 2 major land combat forces.
