Compared to McDonalds, BK, Jack in Box and Wendy, In-N- Out is a lot better, IMO. But it's not like a gourmet burger or anything.

No doubt. It certainly was better than those. For the price range, it's in my top five - Whataburger, Blake's Lottaburger (Albuquerque, NM area), The Big Bun (Boise, ID - not sure if it still exists), and Arctic Circle (small chain in the intermountain northwest) - round that out. In the next price tier, it would be Big Judd's (Boise, ID), Twisters Grill (Albuquerque area), and Five Guys. Big Judd's is my overall favorite.
