I like the Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond. I have her cookbook and use it frequently, especially the cinnamon roll recipe.

I like Ina Garten too, although almost everyone I know says they can’t stand her.

I like the shows you listed. I’m simply board stiff of the Challenge shows and the Cake Decorating (Cupcake) shows.

I love No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain on Travel Channel. I watch them all the time on Netflix.

I love PW, too. Her mocha brownies are always a hit when I make them. I was able to catch her on a book tour and have the autographed cookbook. She’s just as awesome in person as she is on her blog.

Have you made the cinnamon rolls? An angel must have given her the recipe because those surely must be the ones they serve in heaven! ;)

“Chopped is it for me.”

When they had the series of Chopped All Stars episodes (just ended), those were fun.

I love shows about entrepreneurs/inventors. Food shows in the first category - America’s Next Great Restaurant on NBC, Restaurant Impossible on Food Network and Kitchen Nightmares on Fox. Inventor shows - Shark Tank on ABC, Pitchmen on TLC and (before it was cancelled) American Inventor on ABC.

Food Network was good when it was basically Emeril, Mario, Ina, Alton, Sarah, Bobby and even Giada . They all really knew how to COOK and we learned new things. I especially liked Emeril, Alton and Mario. Rachel came on and was an interesting enough novelty for once in a while. At first I enjoyed her show, and initially Paula also. But they both became too “cutsey.” And I tired of hearing about their husbands, families, etc. The earlier Iron Chef was good, but then it also became boring. Now all these new winners of the various competitions they hold for new show hosts really have nothing worth watching, and I hate the restaurant travel shows. I especially hate Man vs Food. It is disgusting. I just wish they would re-run the good cooking shows from the earlier days of their programming.

I’ve always wanted to but haven’t had the time or nerve to try them. This conversation may spur me on! My daughter would love to help me.

Thanks, this is a really funny site!! I’m sending it to my nephew who’s studying to be a chef (he’s watched FN for a long time and will get some good laughs :-)

I enjoyed Ace of Cakes for the simple reason that the people working together actually got along and liked each other.

I guess drama and bickering sells but I just can’t watch the stuff. The Teutul family in the chopper series was the worst, to me. I loved watching the creative and production process but it always felt like a little part of my soul had been twisted after watching the father and sons go after each other and their employees like they did.

I enjoy those too. The only new show in the lineup that appeals to me is Crave, probably because it sounds like a combo of all of them.

Yup...!!!

The ‘unspeakable in pursuit of the inedible’!

You can hardly watch the cooking channel now, because of the ‘freak show’ it has become.

Only shows I watch on FN are Diners Drive Ins and Dives, Good Eats, and Unwrapped. Good Eats is the best. The best thing about DDD is watching the spiky hair guy unhinge his jaw and shove in enough food to feed a family of four in one bite. Kind of like what the IRS does to my paycheck

"...I guess drama and bickering sells but I just can’t watch the stuff...."

I believe that our Hollywood elite think that America gets fulfillment from seeing pissy folks who act like children and do not play well with others. They think it makes for good TV.

It is one more step in the de-evolution of our culture, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when literally EVERY reality show plays up conflict and anitsocial behavior and presents it as the norm.

You know what would be an awesome reality show? Showing folks act like this and then getting their butts fired in front of millions.

This actually happened once, on Undercover Boss. The lady was a bitter, lesbo call center supervisor. It was nice to see her get the can!

It’s like a car accident; it comes on, I grow more horrified as the show unfolds, yet I cannot look away.

LOL. I know...kind of like "Bridezilla."

We used to like those. However, the barrage of commercials makes it unwatchable.

Also, those shows about idiots making stuff that can hardly qualify as ‘food’, are hard to take.

I don't like to a ‘chef’ do more stuff to food than a monkey does with a peanut, then put it on a plate for someone to eat. Who wants their food handled THAT much????
