I imagine that they are safe in Tokyo, as is most everyone else in Tokyo.

There was plenty of rocking and rolling in Tokyo, but I haven’t heard of much in the way of serious damage in the city. I’m sure that the palace buildings have been retro-fitted over the years using the most up to date earthquake resistant methods.
