First Democrat up from Mississippi blames whitey, says we need to blame whitey more, blah blah blah.
King reminds everyone that they should summarize their opening statements or submit them.
Dingell spouts a paean to American muslims, how great they are, how loyal.
First mention of Sen. McCarthy.
Preceded by a speaker whose name I missed, making veiled suggestions that these hearings could endanger our troops abroad (are they not soldiers, sir?) and possibly lead to violence here.
Next up, Ellison (the muslim).
Ellison says this committee’s approach to the problem is “contrary to American values.”
First mention of KKK and of PP clinic bombing. Ellison. Now he mentions internment of Japanese-Americans, and anti-Catholic sentiment in 1960.
Says don’t “target” the whole community for the actions of an isolated few. You can really hear the “tar” in “target.”
Ellison now crying for the cameras and feigning patriotism.
BOO HOO!! Ellison is sobbing violently. You’re making muzzies cry!
Next speaker mentions demonizing. This should be a drinking word.
Sheila Jackson Lee speaks to ask that every member have a chance to speak....King says no.
