Have a question on carrying a conceal weapon in your vehicle?
Can you carry on your person, in your vehicle with no CHL?
In your car only. Not on your person.
Yep, if there are no other problems such as ex-felon, etc.
Just do not forget to get outta the car with it in your pocket on public property or restricted private propterty and get caught. No banks, no courthouses, etc.
Yes, you may carry on your person in your vehicle, but it must be concealed (i.e. not in plain view.)
You can carry on or about your person a car in Texas, provided the weapon is concealed. The specific law is as follows:
A person commits an offense of unlawfully carrying a weapon if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun on or about his or her person unless the person is on ones own premise or premises under the persons control or inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle that is owned by the person or under the persons control.
I don’t know the answer to your question, but these guys are trying to improve Texas gun laws:
Ha!
A car = IN a car.
Can I carry a handgun in my personal vehicle without a permit?
Yes. Section 46.02, Texas Penal Code was amended to allow a person to carry a handgun in a motor vehicle that is owned by the person or under his/her control. The weapon must not be in plain view, and the person must not be engaged in criminal activity other than a Class C misdemeanor that is a violation of a law or ordinance regulating traffic. Finally, a person carrying a handgun in his/her car must not be prohibited by law from possessing a firearm and the person cannot be a member of a criminal street gang as defined in Section 71.01.

We have Castle Doctrine Law in TX. You may want to research it, but basically it says that you may have a loaded gun in your car when you are traveling. (Don’t know about you, but when I’m in my car, I’m traveling.)
You may have loaded guns in your home for self-defense without a license.
You MAY NOT carry a concealed gun on your person without a CHL.
If you are stopped by a cop, have your hands on the steering wheel in plain view, and the first words out of your mouth to the cop are: “Officer, I am armed/”
From then on out, answer his questions while sitting still and keeping both hands in view. Tell him you are traveling and you are armed by the Castle Doctrine Law.
This is what I told my husband to do, as he has no interest in carrying a concealed gun, but he travels back and forth between our home and our “ranch”, and he needs to be armed out there.
I thinks it’s best that he doesn’t take the CHL, because IMO that just puts him in another government database .
My question is specific, I’m aware of the Castle doctrine and HB 1815. I know I can carry in my vehicle while traveling but it must be concealed. My question is can I carry a handgun on my person concealed while traveling and not have a CHL?
I just now checked with my CHL trainer, and he says yes—it must be concealed in your car, and can be concealed on your person.
Just don’t forget you’ve got it on you and run into the 7-11, though-LOL!
(Actually, I wouldn’t go into a 7-11 without carrying, now that I think about it!)

In my experience it’s best not to offer information to a police officer. Answer their questions accurately and politely but don’t get into complications by telling them more than they wanted to know.
Yes, you may carry a concealed handgun on your person in your vehicle.
Yes, you may carry a concealed handgun on your person in your vehicle.
Here’s the law:
It is unlawful to intentionally, knowingly or recklessly carry on or about ones person a handgun in a motor vehicle if the handgun is in plain view or the person is engaged in criminal activity (other than a misdemeanor traffic violation), prohibited by law from possessing a firearm or is a member of a street gang.
