Well, let’s see: I just got a $394 bill for natural gas + $156 for electricity for December 20-January 20. We are in the countryside of Maryland about 25 miles from DC so it’s not all that cold. I kept the temperature at 60. Kind of frustrating because I can’t install a woodburning stove in my house without spending a huge amount ($10K) on carpentry, etc.
I paid attention to the usual small living people that post here, I installed two pellet stoves, I live in the Great White North and wanted to get away from wood. I also installed an on demand hot water heater, made a large difference.
We’re paying about $300 per month for propane, and about $350 per month for electricity. In California, we get tagged $.31/kwhour because we are in the tier V usage, which does not take into account the number of persons in the house. So basically, the state of California persecutes large families, but gay couples can enjoy tier I rates. We’re moving....looking for a house with a wind mill, make CA pay tier V rates back!
