To all;
I hereby apoligize for the obviously skewed and liberalized rational displayed by the good Colonel. No doubt he is well meaning and entitled to his view of the condition of the “certain inalienable rights endowed on men by their Creator”. However, I wish to assure you that few military men (and women) are so out of touch with the facts. Yes, we all wish our swords could be beaten into plowshares, however, the reality of the world, domestic and foreign, is such that doing so insures that those who in fact do transform their weapons into tools will be ruled those that do not. History proves that the outcome of such equation is always less than compassionate on the former.
I will not be ruled except by elected represenation, and even with that context, certain privledges and immunities do not lie within the bounds of any human governmental interference; as they (these several endowed rights) do not emanate from man or his governemnt, but directly from our Creator.
Freedom of conscience, voice and life are the three keys in my expereince.
No legislator can morally dictate elimination or even constraint on any of those, except by criminal behavior on one subject to the common law of this nation.
This man, who no doubt served honorably, must defer to the natural laws of man, namely the right to protect oneself from illegal or immoral attack. Never give up your means to resist evil, otherwise it will overcome the light.
It IS about the temporal conflict of good versus evil.
