Auburn beats Oregon 22-19
The same TCU team for all intents and purposes that got manhandled by BSU last January.
What a difference a year makes...didn’t Auburn only win 5 games last season?
The rule specifically talks about the ‘greedy old man’. It doesn’t have to be him - any family member.
It looks fixed. The floodgates are now open. A guy the caliber of Newton is now for bid to any school willing to pay, and until they prove the player knew about it, everything is legit?
Just call it semipro football and get it over with. Unless they enforce the rule and strip Auburn, the result is going to be secret bidding processes and anonymous trusts.
That $50 a month will be better spent here at FreeRepublic than on those, many of whom I feel, are enemies of the Republic.
His forward progress stopped, end of story, he was down.
Yes, I have seen it happen before, (both college and pros) but never in a championship game.
Give the Zebras credit. They called it right.
Case in point, the Texas Longhorns.
I see what you are trying to say but do you think auburn pulled for us last year. NO! Plus I simply cannot support them knowing that they bought $cam Newton.
So true.
Well, some Auburn fans did support Alabama last year. My sister is an AU grad and she had a big party at her house to watch the game.
But some don’t, true that.
If we found out that AU paid for Cam Newton, they will have bigger problems that me not rooting for them against Oregon. :-)
Sorry to disappoint you, but a BSU fan wrote exactly that in an ESPN thread after BSU's bowl victory.
When he wrote it, my thought was, "huh?"
So I pulled up the rosters of five other top-ranked teams and checked the OL size. He was delusional.
You're welcome to disagree with my opinion, and I'll respect that. But when you say "that's why no one did," you're calling me a liar.
I'll make a $5,000 deal with you . . . if I'm willing to read back through the posts and find that comment, and post the link, are you willing to donate $5,000 to the BSA when I show you that a BSU fan did, in fact, write that?
The end of the story was Auburn winning, and you won’t find any Pro/College level refs that would disagree with the call. You can’t just call a player down if he stops running. He has to have his knee touch the ground, go out of bounds or get stopped with no escape possible. That’s why QB’s still have to slide to be considered down. You tell a QB to stop and let the refs call him down and see what happens. He’s a dead man.
You KNOW Auburn bought Cam Newton? Do you mean you suspect it, or you KNOW it?
If you have evidence, then I'd suggest you give it to the NCAA - or better yet, become famous by presenting the evidence on ESPN.
I suspect it. However, I KNOW that an Alabama booster paid for Albert Means. The NCAA found the money. The school admitted it. Isn't that one of the reasons that Alabama went on major probation three times in a shorter period than any other NCAA school in history?
And by the way, I'm a Longhorn. Congratulations, Alabama played a great game against us last year.
Well, they did try to hire Booby Petrino in the middle of the night while still having Tommy Tuberville under contract as head coach. Can’t get any lower than that. The next year Tuberville went 13-0 and should have been in the championship game against those USC condoms.
Bet you guys won’t boo Chizik this time when he lands back in Auburn.
When I say no one did, I was referring to our conversation. I’m sure you can find quotes that say Obama is a patriotic American, but it would have no bearing on our conversation. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Advantage went to the team that was bigger and slower. This was a huge advantage for Auburn.
Both teams were slipping like crazy on that horrible field, but perhaps it slowed down Oregon a bit more than Auburn, nobody could make a decent cut without their feet going out from under them, it ruined the game.
Understood. Hope your day goes well.
