Auburn beats Oregon 22-19
“The call on the last AU drive in the fourth quarter when the AU guy’s forward momentum was clearly stopped, he even gave up on the play and considered himself down until the AU bench prodded him to keep going.”
He thought he was down, but the folks on the sidelines were close to the action and knew he wasn’t.
On the replay, after replay, after replay...it showed that his knee didn’t touch the ground.
“It was tainted.”
The only thing I saw that might have tainted the game is the ref who was in the way when Oregon needed ground in a fierce way.
BTW, I live in Oregon, but was born and raised on SEC football. ;o)
His forward momentum was stopped. That is down. He himself gave up on the play, another indication that he was down. Refs were paid off.
While I really wanted Oregon to win it was a fun and exciting game from beginning to end!

I thought their uniforms looked awful. I did not like the colors at all. We head home tomorrow to a snowy Alabama.

SEC oh yeah
If y’all didn’t know, I work at Auburn University. What a year! Honestly I didn’t think we’d be in this game back in August. After Alabama’s impressive season last year, I thought we’d be in a couple of rebuild years to get up to their level.
But game after game, our luck held and we won each game. Football is a game of skill and power, but it is also a game luck; of chance. There’s a saying in the Pro’s—Any given Sunday.
Auburn was lucky in many games, to give credit to our many good opponents this year, including Oregon.
Now, chuckling at all the sore losers! Yada,yada, yada....
There’s a thousand reasons to nitpick a game, but the game board tells the story in the end.

You should be thanking Bama for quitting in the second half. We were clearly the better team. Congratulations on your tainted title.
Sorry but the SEC is very overrated this year. We may be members of the SEC but I DESPISE this conference & the teams in it (except Bama of course).

What about 2009?
2009: The Drive – Trailing 21–20 with 8:27 remaining, unbeaten Alabama (#2 AP) marched down the field on a 15-play, 79 yard drive capped by a 3 yard touchdown pass from Greg McElroy to Roy Upchurch. Alabama took the lead 26–21 with 1:27 remaining and held on for the win.
You should THANK Auburn for giving up at the end in 2009 so you even had a CHANCE to beat Texas...

Um... no. The play is live until his knee touches the ground, forced out of bounds, or unless there is not oppurtunity for advancement. He didn't fit any of those criteria, hence he wasn't down.
