Auburn beats Oregon 22-19
Weren’t you here last year about this time complaining about Alabama winning?
We could call it the "Pat Sullivan Memorial Bowl" (ok he isn't dead yet, but he did coach at both Auburn and TCU)
Yeah, they were on their own 40 with 2 minutes left to play. No chance for them to kick the FG.
The Ducks just didn’t play well enough to give themselves a chance.
It took a Cam fumble, a gift pick play, offsides at the line, and they still needed to convert a 3 and 1, plus the 2 point conversion to tie the game.
National Champs! War Damn Eagle!!!
A great game, which half the nation was deprived of seeing. The NCAA must be run by utter morons. But then, the NCAA is run by college presidents,
Cam Fumble - forced by an excellent defensive play. That’s no more luck than Auburn stuffing OR for a safety.
Ducks had more penalties.
From a Vol fan..... has it really been over a decade since we won it?
War Eagle! Happy to see the SEC win it again..... it seems like a given now.
Congratulations to the Ducks also..... what a fun team to watch and they did the Pac-10 proud even in defeat.
Terrific game and I look forward to my favorite game again in August.
Yes. Cam Newton. The boy who turned in a plagiarized paper not once, but TWICE, to the same teacher at Florida and then LEFT to go play at a Junior College because “he wasn’t starting”. Then he gets to Auburn and all this mess about money comes out and they have his voice on tape saying that “the money is too good”. This same boy then gets on National TV and smugly smiles while giving answers that a Lawyer obviously thought up because god knows the boy can’t think for himself and probably doesn’t have the intelligence for anyways as the paper incident proves. Only an idiot would turn in a fake paper twice to the same Prof. for the same assignment.
2) He is NOT a good QB. While some might disagree, look at his mechanics. They are horrible! Easiest way to tell would be to compare Andrew Luck and Cam Newton side by side with video and watch the fundamentals (throwing, foot movement, foot placement, etc) Then compare the 2 to an average NFL QB such as Mark Sanchez, Kyle Orton, etc. (Sanchez is debatable as he keeps getting better). Luck stands out while Newton shows how bad he really is.
3) AU defense won that game. Fairley won that game even though he cheapshotted a few guys. Newton played horrible.
And finally to all of you Auburn fans, congrats! But know that your the only people in the country still supporting Cam Newton. It is blatantly obvious that the NCAA is corrupt, College Football is corrupt, and the SEC, Big 10, PAC-10, etc are corrupt. But like someone on here once said “If you ain’t winnin, you ain’t tryin.”
Btw I had no dog in this game. I go to NC State so I’m screwed every year ;]
THIS is funny.
I was watching a high school football game on ESPN a few months ago. Two schools in Orlando. One team's quarterback was ranked number one high school recruit in the country, which is probably why ESPN showcased the game.
Anyhow, on this one play the offense chose a running play. The kid running with the ball was SEEMINGLY tackled by an opposing player. But what happened was that the opposing player grabbed the ball carrier and flung him down to the ground OVER HIS BODY. Ball carrier's knees never touched the ground. No whistle from the ref on top of the play. The ball carrier bounced up and kept running for the score. Great call on the field and the ESPN replay clearly showed that the runner's knees never touched.
Thought I'd never see such a thing again. And what do you know ..... :-)
Did you notice that on Dyer's almost touchdown there at the end of the game that the SAME TACKLER, Oregon #11, tackled him in the exact same way at the 1yd line and Dyer almost scored a TD because of it.
What happens when you bounce a football at 4th and 5 off the ref’s head?
Game over.
The Ducks were very fortunate to convert that 4th and 5. They fail, Auburn takes over on their own 40, and scores another TD to ice the game.
Auburn was half a yard from scoring another TD. So the game would have been 23-11, which tells the story of the game. The Ducks were exposed by a decent defense.
TCU on the other hand, contained the best rushing offense in the nation and beat Wisconsin. I’m confident that had it been TCU/Ducks for the championship game, we’d have a blowout.
The Ducks just didn’t have a strong enough schedule this year. We had the question, just how good were the Ducks? The answer? Not very.
Congratulations, Ducks! Y’all played a great game. You never quit. You never gave in. It could just as easily have been you carrying home the Crystal Trophy. Maybe we’ll meet again next year.
Compared to the SEC, every other conference has been squeaky clean.
What call was that....Dyers knee?
If the ducks would not have gotten stopped at the goal line earlier in the game, and had kicked the field goal, different story altogether. What really happened is they got outcoached, but just barely. The difference in yardage was about 70yds. Considering the TOP, that’s not much. Auburn had the better run defense, and running game; the Ducks had a better secondary and a better passing game. The quarterbacks played about even. Both did well on special teams. The score pretty much reflected the pitch of the game.
Boise State could beat either, just like they manhandled TCU last year.
I’m not sure I’d rank the Ducks 1st in their state after watching their performance today. Oregon St. went up against some solid squads.
What would Gene Chizik know about class? I don’t blame him for leaving Iowa State to go to a better job at Auburn, but he didn’t have the class or guts to tell his football team, nor his athletic director he was quitting; he just left town without being a man and facing his team that he was quitting on.
And this is coming from someone who can’t stand Iowa State (yes, I am a Hawkeye fan).
Oregeon State got pounded pretty hard by the Ducks in the Civil War this year
Nevertheless LSU may even have a coach next year who can read the clock...if so, they could be having duck soup.
Alabama’s first run in with a major NCAA violation was over a player who was drinking and celebrating winning the national championship and who signed a napkin saying he wanted an agent to represent him. The player didn’t tell anybody. Then a year later, it all comes out. The coach at the time was Gene Stallings, and I don’t care what anybody says, but you’re not gonna find a more squeaky clean and honest football coach than that. To me, he’s like the Ronald Reagan of college football. He’s a wonderful man with a wonderful wife and family. I know I sound silly, but to hang an entire football program because a stupid kid did something stupid at a moment of euphoria was unfair. I’m sure the whole fiasco is why Coach Stallings went home to his ranch. Who wants to be embroiled in the NCAA mess, and who wants to deal with fans who think they must cheat to win? grrrr Anywho, I can’t speak for the time between Coach Stallings and Coach Shula. I was busy having babies and this and that. hah
I decided after listening to Cam Newton for the first time tonight that Cam may be too dumb to have known what his father was doing. He may be too dumb to know that he cheated on exams or stole a computer. He is dumb.
