She was reputedly a dominatrix of sorts with some, um, “interesting” talents. He was weak and in some ways a bit of a (small s) socialist in his beliefs, apparently didn’t follow the “proper” line about strikers etc in the Depression, later he became a fan of Adolf.

IIRC, there was a recent scientific study that concluded that
“being in love” gives a high that’s nearly indistigusible from
the physiological effects of high-powered drugs like cocaine or heroin.

I’ve experienced the emotion. Even though I’m now a grumpy old man,
I’d agree with the conclusion!!!
