Ladies and Gentlemen, we're at this point unless conservatives make hard choices that are going to hurt in the short term.

President Chet Roosevelt (Ritter) hires television consultant Eric McMerkin (Riegert) to help produce a national raffle. Instead, they decide that the only way enough money can be raised to save America is to run a telethon, and hire TV celebrity Monty Rushmore (Korman) to host it.

Choice implies options.

There are no options remaining.

Think reckoning.

I don’t think there’s any short term about any of this. I have a feeling we (us and the next generation and maybe more) are screwed—just a matter of when we face up to it and how much we keep digging the hole. I don’t see how it ends pretty.

Reality is never pretty. Ask those who have seen a live birth.

Things may be bad here in the future, but they will be worse in that future for those holding 15 trillion of our bonds when they try to collect.

It is a done deal, especially for foreign interests foolish enough to buy the last two years worth of bad paper.

My 14 year old future FReeper is researching all career options that lead to prosperity without becoming a slave. He says he wants to join the military as that experience will enable him to achieve his goal of independent prosperity.

I agree wholeheartedly.

LOL! That's how husbands are able to agree to no sex for at least six weeks. I had to hold my wife's leg and cut the cord.

Ward Cleaver and Fred Flintstone had it so much easier ;-)

Good luck to your 14 year old and all like him. We are going to need him. I've got a 13 year old plus two behind him.

I don't know what to say and I'm not sure how to proceed.

Well, as my son says, weapons handling and knowledge of military tactics never hurts.
