"What seems like eleventy years later, The Hobbit is finally a done deal.
MGM, New Line and Warner Bros. have officially greenlighted the two-part Lord of the Rings prequel, featuring the adventures of Frodo's uncle, Bilbo Baggins, with Peter Jackson triple-threating as writer-director-producer. LOTR partners Fran Walsh (aka Mrs. Jackson) and Phillipa Boyens will also work on the script."

My bad, wrong del Toro came to mind. Guillermo, not Benicio.

Christmas, 2012. That's perfect! Means I can be in the theater watching when meteors, volcanos, earthquakes, floods, solar flares, and alien invasion destroy Earth

We have seen Bag End in TLOTR. Hobbitton is still there in NZ.

...and they started work on it last spring (fall, to us, about a year ago) IIRC. As they did fot FotR, to let the vegetation grow to look as though it had been there for centuries...

LOTR sucked. Any movie in which a guy this cool bites the dust is not worth watching. ;)

Seeing your nick, I’m not surprised. My understanding is that Beorn is nearly as certain as Smaug.

My dad read “The Hobbit” to me when I was only five. So I’ve been waiting to see the movie version of the Battle of the Five Armies for over forty years! (I never watched the cartoon version — just sounded lame.)
Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait! :o)
