Second incident at Old Saybrook store in 2 days
A man is under arrest after police say he stood outside the Old Saybrook Walmart on Thursday and said he was "getting ready to start killing people."
John Carlo, 28, of Pawcatuck, has been charged with breach of peace and threatening.
Before police arrived, Carlo fled on foot. The area was cordoned off and a K-9 was called in to assist with the search. Carlo was finally found in a walk-in cooler at a nearby gas station.
This is the second incident in as many days at this Walmart store. On Wednesday evening an Old Saybrook woman allegedly threatened to detonate a bomb if a pharmacist didn't fill her prescription.
Old Saybrook police say Rachel Hudson, 34, walked into Walmart Wednesday night and passed a note to the pharmacist threatening to blow up the store if her prescription for amphetamines was not filled.
The state police bomb squad searched the store and the suspect and found no bomb making material but they did find two 'items of interest' in Hudson's van which was covered in writings like "the government is terrorists." Inside they found a gas can with wires coming out of it and wires coming from a fuse panel, which wrapped around the steering wheel and back into the engine compartment.
Hudson appeared in Middletown Superior Cour on Thursday and her attorney told the court she really doesn't have the means to make any bond. She was ordered held on $150,000 bond and ordered to undergo a competency evaluation.
I wonder what this nutballs DU screen name is.
Happens every winter in OS. Summer people move out and the transients move in. Add *hard times* to the equation ...err....I mean *hope ‘n change* and there ya are. Easy-on-easy-off of I-95....easy-pickins’.
There return policy is a bitch!
I felt the same way many times at Wal Mart.
It’s really weird to see stories about places you once lived and knew.
Perhaps this guy was “influenced” by my old mentor. Or by my uncle. Both from Pawcatuck, both (along with me) same employer, both crazy. ;-)
The greet person at the door is the reason!
Well, at least he went somewhere to cool down before he started shooting...
Is there a McDonald’s Restaurant located in the store? You know how some people can lose it after catching the scent of McDonald’s food cooking.
“...of Pawcatuck,...”
This explains it all.
