all I see is white in the middle, red on top and blue and green on the bottom

As seen through binoculars? This description of red on one end and blue/green on the other sounds like a common optical fault called chromatic aberration. Alot of optics have it to some degree.

I see the same colors without the glass but it’s just a blur cuz my eyes are old.
