In an interview last night with CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf stressed that he could not move the Ground Zero mosque because it would threaten “national security.” From the CNN transcript:

RAUF: As I just mentioned, our national security now hinges on how we negotiate this, how we speak about it, and what we do. It is important for us now to raise the bar on our conversation–

O’BRIEN: What’s the risk? When you say “national security,” what’s the risk?

RAUF: As I mentioned, because if we move, that means the radicals ...

So what will Rauuf say to Terry Jones.... if Jones says you must move this mosque in good faith and we will not burn Korans will Rauuf say so what go ahead and burn Korans?

I hate to tell the imam, bad things have already happened. Hence the opposition to the GROUND ZERO mosque. If bad things hadn’t happened, there would BE no ground zero. If bad things happen, the pushback could get ugly.

We have a freeper that has been keeping meticulous records on this administration. My guess would be he has the skinny on this Imam as well. If not, I fully agree, we need to “dig in”. I’ve heard several things about him already...including contributing to our enemies (hamas etc).
