My friends husband complained of nasal drip for months and months.....ended up brain-cancer and too late to stop that particuliar kind of cancer. He was gone in less than a year.
Douglas has “four stage cancer” which generally isn’t good news...but does depend on the type.
I dunno, their kids are pretty young; maybe they were getting upset and she thought they needed a distraction? They do have a pretty unusual situation since he is an older dad and that has consequences.
At the end of the film, Duvall confronts Douglas’ character and it is clear that the endgame would have been him killing his wife and child.

Similar story here .... My mom’s doc kept telling her for months that she had a bladder infection, kept feeding her antibiotics for this so-called infection, never sent her on to a specialist or even an OB/GYN. When she finally got so weak she could barely stand, my dad carted her over to the hospital and informed them there that he was not taking her home until they told him what was wrong with her. Turned out she had ovarian cancer, mestastasized throughout her abdomen. Fifteen days after my dad took her to the hospital, she was gone. I just hope her so-called “doctor” has a similar experience for himself.

Well he was on all sorts of nasal preparations to get it stopped...was even determined they were the cause for a time...so they stopped the nasal preps.
As I understood it there are two forms of brain cancer...one form is like jelly beans so can be removed and outcome is generally favorable. The other is like mashed potatoes so removal is difficult...that is what he had. The interesting part is they determined the primary tumor was actully in the lung....which they had no indication of prior, which had spread to the brain and formed there.
Cancer is such an unpredictable disease....so many variables come into play so determining what where when and how this is going to go for any is at best speculation.
As for your nasal issue...I’d just get an Mri or x-ray to be sure....but I am sensitive to this having been with my friends throughout the ordeal.

Also, if the intent is to kill his wife, why did he have the water gun and not the real thing when confronted by Duvall? He also told the Duvall character that either he could kill Duvall's caracter, or Duvall could kill him, and his little girl could get his (Douglas') insurance.
It may have been a liberal slam on the angry white man, but the timing is wrong for Clinton.
That was the reason for my original post. While it may have been intended as a slam, it had the opposite effect on me (akin to Archie Bunker). I took it as a man pushed too far. He only hurt those who threatened him physically (bangers and neo nazi). Otherwise his wrath was at the system - easily identified with. He knew he'd done wrong, and deliberately committed suicide by cop before hurting his family.

Yeah it was made in the spring and summer of 1992 while Clinton was campaigning.
