The Wright County Egg company, based in Iowa, has issued a recall of 228 million eggs because of reports of salmonella-related outbreaks in several Western states.
The eggs are sold to contract companies including Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralphs, Boomsmas, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemps, according to several news reports.

That's a lot of eggs!
Thank you. The only brand name I recognize is Hillandale — sold at our local Foodland...and I only shop at Foodland if I’m desperate. :)
Yesterday Fox News only posted 5 companies which none affected us.
Then I saw this today and winds up we do have a dozen in the fridge.
we get “organic” brown eggs at the QFC a block from our house. I doubt they are part of this. Hopefully.
Even if they are, what are the odds of us actually getting sick? This sounds as risky as driving without a seat belt.
we get Costco ‘Nearby eggs’ packed by Hillandale...I checked the numbers against the pack I had in the fridge and they did not match....so I ate one.....runny yoke and all....
My aunt and cousin got sick from the Ralphs eggs so everyone be sure to check the eggs in your frig. The Sunshine company is sold in Trader Joes(Which we did not realize til today, we really never look) so be aware that those have been recalled too
So if my Farm Fresh eggs say "211 P1829" they are fine? Just those three plants, 1026, 1413 and 1946 are affected?
I’d take them to the store. We had eggs that we looked up, did not appear to be recalled, took them back to Ralphs and the lady said “Yep these are recalled” just take them back and verify for sure. Dont take any chances
Ugh, I hate shopping and have my groceries delivered. I’ll just toss them and order new.
Well I don’t want you to throw away something that might turn out to be Ok..call the place where you bought them and give them the info on the box and see if its been recalled or not. My cousin and my aunt had pretty bad diarrhea so its always worth being a little extra cautious
All you have to do is cook them thoroughly. That’s not so hard, now, is it?
Does that count for using them in batter or baking?
Or mayonaise.
What if you like soft boiled or sunny-side up?
Yep. I like my eggs fried hard but there are other uses for eggs that don’t require complete cooking.
Glad this was posted. E-coli or salmonella isn’t my plan two weeks before college football season.
I hear you. I hate overcooked eggs though, and I’ve never had a problem. I’ve also had the classic Caesar salad many times. Always delicious, never an issue.
Mayonnaise is made with raw eggs so there must be a way clean them otherwise Hellmann’s would be sued right and left.
I suspect what ever method they used to clean them at Wright County Egg Co failed the process.
The bottom line is that if you’re unsure of the source of your eggs, throw them out. Its not even worth that gas to return them for a $1.29 dozen
Not worth ruining your weekend over.
