My bank is actually paying you a nickle every time you use your debit card without a PIN. It is nice to get an extra seven bucks or so deposited into your account twice a year.

My bank is actually paying you a nickle every time you use your debit card without a PIN. That's because when you use it that way you are actually using it as a credit card.
We're not talking logic here. We're talking federal regulations, which have nothing whatsoever to do with logic.

It isn't your bank it is the merchant that is paying that nickle but it is more like $.25 for taking that card in addition to all the regular fees.
