The stimulus has been a huge help here in Boston. The health care bill while far from perfect was a very good idea. I wish they would take out the mandates though.
Would you mind giving us some specific examples of this?
We know. Boston received an immense amount of other people's money. I'm sure a lot of unionized construction workers over there love the stimulus. In much the same way as Hitler loved all the gold and treasures he took from subjugated Europe.
Don't flaunt that stolen money in our face, lady.
Hon, you do realize that was the purpose of the health care bill, right? It had nothing to do with health care...it was to control the people.
“The stimulus has been a huge help here in Boston. The health care bill while far from perfect was a very good idea. I wish they would take out the mandates though”.
...this is what I’m talking about as your being “woefully uninformed”. The “stimulus” was designed strictly for re-election in 2010 and 2012 with a few bucks strewn about to make it look legit. The “mandates” are exactly what the bill was about. It is not about health care in the least. It’s about control. Which takes us full circle. You are either woefully uninformed or a Marxist. There really isn’t any other choice for an Obama voter.
You are kidding, right? Unemployment in Boston has doubled in the past two years. At that, during President Bush's term, Boston's unemployment reached a record low of 2.9%.
In the past two years, it has shot up to 8-9%.
I live in Boston. What the hell are you talking about?
Have you even considered the fiscal consequences of having the government require people to buy something they may not need whether they want to or not?
Have you studied the Health care system in Great Britain or Canada?--especially now that the system is underfunded?
Or for that matter, the consequences of government intervention in a system which was built by innovation and free enterprise?
Or have you considered the moral implications of requiring by law (with the full consequences of imprisonment and being deprived of any and all property for someone who fails to comply) people who, for religious reasons, cannot pay for the murder of unborn children to pay for "health care" which involves federally funded elective abortion?
For those of us over 250 miles from the nearest enclave of humanity numbered in six figures, there will be little benefit in any of the programs you seem to enjoy, but we'll be expected to pay a full share--whether we want to or not.
I find it ironic that you live in one of the towns once considered a shining beacon of the fight for freedom from governmental oppression, yet you seem to embrace your oppressors.
Is that because they are buying you off? What is your personal benefit?
The chart above is from the Obama administration's numbers.
The "stimulus" is a complete failure.
- It has been entirely ineffective in its intended goal, as the chart shows.
- The money taken from taxpayers for pet projects is no longer available for spending in what would otherwise be a post-recession period. Thus, the stimulus only lengthens the period of the recession.
- An anecdotal note: my brother in law (construction engineer in upstate New York and a JFK-type democrat) notes that NO new construction jobs were created by the stimulus money. Projects that had beeen planned prior to the stimulus spending, were paid for with stimulus money. Money that had been allocated for those projects were then shifted over to other non-construction accounts, such as shoring-up underfunded pension plans. No new jobs.
Please elaborate why you believe that the health care bill was a very good idea.
Apparently the fact it is Unconstitutional is irrelevant eh?
