I don't know if Five Guys is better than In N Out. But it's very good. We are finally geting an In N Out here in Northeast Texas and Orange County CA just got it's first Five Guys.

I go to Five Guys at least once a week. Much better than BK or McD or Wendys. Try the bacon cheeseburger (two patties) with lettuce, tomato, raw onion, mayo and pickle. Yum!

No question, Five Guys is better. But no matter which one you go to, make that your only meal for the day. You’ll get more than your daily adult caloric intake requirement at either one if you eat a nice sized burger and fries. Besides that, you’ll be stuffed.

Actually, I prefer In-N-Out.... And the shakes are definitely better.

My wife loves the In-and-Out but I just don’t see why. I was a Five Guys customer since the 90’s and love the stuff, especially the greasy bag of fries.

I’ve never been. Are they cooked over an open flame? Or just on a solid flat grill?

Tried Five Guys was not impressed. $12 for a burger, fries and coke is a bit steep in the south, plus there are mom and pop places that can spank those guys in the cheeseburger wars.

I have had burgers from both 5 Guys and In & Out and they both are good. I think In & Out is slightly better.

Not even a comparison. Five Guys is not a fast food burger. As good as In and Out, Five Guys burgers and the home made fries are DELICIOUS.

So true. I always keep a couple of plastic bags in my trunk so when I bring the fries home, none of the delicious grease leaks out. I think Five Guys rules. And unfortunately, there are two of them within easy striking distance of my house.

I’ve eaten In N Out every time I’ve been to California, and it’s quite delicious. I still haven’t tried Five Guys, though they did recently open up a location right near where I grew up in Edina, so I’ll be sure to check it out next time I’ve over there.

Being from down South myself, Back Yard Burgers is pretty tough to beat, especially for a chain.

I like Steak-n-Shake, too. Those shoestring fries are addictive.

Never had In N Out, but 5 Guys is damned good. I guess you need a town where you can get both, and then try one of each.

Side note: I cannot stand the fries there, especially the spicy/blackened fries. They put fries in a bag, then pour the mixed hot spices over it. First time I reached in my fingers went thru an inch of spices before they found the fries. I threw the bag away and never ordered them again.

I’ve never seen wither in my travel. For chain burgers in Illinois, Steak and Shake is the best (try the Wisconsin butter burger with grilled onions) with Culvers a VERY distant second. The Steak and Shake sirloin hot dog is also exceptional. Dn’t get the “Chicago-style,” ruins a perfectly good dog.
