Reuters) - Mitch Miller, the powerful American music executive who guided some of the biggest U.S. pop stars of the 1950s and had Americans crooning with him on the "Sing Along With Mitch" television show, has died at age 99.

R.I.P. Mitch!
Annnd a-one, annnd a-two.....
“Annnd a-one, annnd a-two”.
Wrong guy, that was Lawrence Welk. He’s dead too.
Was that Mitch Miller or Lawrence Welk who said that, Hey it's been 40+ years.
Living in Japan, Mitch Miller’s show was a breath of fresh air whenever it aired. We used to sit around and sing with Mitch. His albums were fun also, they had many sheets of music in them and the whole Squadron would sing along. Today, few know the pleasure Mitch gave us. I was mentioning him just last week to 30-40 somethings and they were oblivious to who Mitch was.
oops...my bad.
faint memory of watching Mitch Miller at my grandparents.
“follow the bouncing ball” wasn’t it?
(See dad girl inna da red? 3 years performing wid the boys and nebber once has she uh been lade...)
We’ve lost a few people from that era in recent weeks: Art Linkletter, Jimmy Dean, now Mitch Miller. I remember all of them from my childhood.
I still have “I’m looking over a four leaf clover” by Mitch on my computer.
I love a good men’s chorus. These were great.

Not the best quality of recording, but you can see the stellar nature of this men’s chorus here.
Mitch Miller would say “Follow the bouncing ball”! which would bounce along the top of the lyrics on the tv screen, so you could sing along at home. Those were the nice days of television.- before mtv.
I still have my dad’s original Mitch Miller Lp’s, stored away, maybe I’ll put them on Ebay.
The song I think most people must remember is the Yellow Rose of Texas. Also they did the Bridge on the River Kwai.
I’ve got about 40 of his songs on my machine. Always loved Mitch Miller. He was one of my parent’s favorites. I didn’t learn to appreciate him until I was a grownup.
Listening to “River Kwai March” right now.... Everyone sing along with Mitch Miller....
Obama, hes only got one ball.
Biden, has two but theyre real small.
Holder, has one thats moldered.
And Clinton owns two, but theyre out on call.
Or the other version, we sang growing up:
Comet....it will make your teeth turn green
Comet....it tastes like gasoline
Comet....it will make you vomit
So get some Comet..and vomit, today!
We sang the exact same “Comet” song as kids. The original words, which we weren’t allowed to sing, were (as I recall them anyway)...
Hitler, he’s only got one ball.
Himmler, has two but they’re real small.
Goring, has one ball bearing.
And poor old Go-balls has no balls at all.
Those TV days were great. Anybody remember Joe Pyne?
Yep... Followed that "bouncing ball" through many a tune on his show...
the infowarrior
“Anybody remember Joe Pyne?”
