TRader Joe’s is one of the best food marts in America.
So is Whole Foods, though pricey and considerably more trendy than TJ’s. The owner of WF is a clear thinking CEO, unlike a lot of them. This piece was WAAAAAAAYYYY overlong, considering the rather predictable points that were to be made about that vanishing breed, ‘yuppies’. You’re more likely to find yuppie types at WF, but more likely where I live in suburban Bergen County NJ, very close to NYC, you’ll find people of all sorts who just need a break from their A&Ps and ShopRites. When you’ve got a few extra bucks, you will treat yourself to a little something at Whole Foods. THat’s what it’s there for, in addition to luscious and original prepared foods from Asia and the Middle East.Nobody ever said you had to spent $323.
Hey, I wouldn’t have spent $323 there if I didn’t think the food was good! As for yuppies, the “Bonfire of the Vanities” set are alive and well here in Massachusetts. There are even subsets of same, such as DINKS (double-income; no-kids) and those with big incomes but still living at home with mom and dad (haven’t come up with a catchy acronym for those).
“When youve got a few extra bucks, you will treat yourself to a little something at Whole Foods.”
Exactly, only a dingdong would spend all of their money at WF. It’s a great place to pick up specialized items. The berry chantilly is a great reason to visit, though expensive.
