Lindsay Lohan will be able to take drugs in jail: report

LOS ANGELES -- Looks like Lindsay Lohan can continue to take drugs while in jail.

It's OK since LiLo has a doctor's note allowing her to take daily doses to deal with ADHD and insomnia.

TMZ.com reported today that Lohan's prescriptions were being processed hours after she was sent away for her 90-days sentence. She'll be allowed to take Adderall, a psychostimulant used to treat ADHD, and Ambien sleeping pills.

The allowance is ironic since it's prescription drugs that have gotten Lohan "into this mess in the first place," TMZ reported.

Smoking, however, is not allowed.

Great, amphetamines and barbiturates... Does her doctor also stay at the Holiday Inn Express?

Probably the same doctor who “prescribed” meds to Michael Jackson.

Beautiful , she’s taking a 90 day supply of both speed and downers into jail for what will actually be a 20 day or so stay... and this all started with a charge instigated by prescription drugs...

I have ADD. It’s real. But why the hell does she need it treated t stay in prison? I dealt with it for 30 years, untreated. She can do two weeks. And God forbid she has insomnia in prison! She might become docile!

Noooo...take it away and make her suffer! It’s jail, it’s supposed to be punishment!

Y’all are making it sound like she will have the drugs in her jail cell. She is not in jail for adderal and ambien. She is in jail for all the other crap she has taken.

I have ADD. I take straterra. I cannot sleep. I take Lunesta.

I must be a drug addict.

Adderal is actually the same substance as recreational drugs, dextroamphetamine. And Ambien is a total trip. You must know that. So, yes, she actually is doing recreational drugs in her jail pen. Are they for a recreational purpose is the question. To which I am asking in response, “what purpose is the dextroamphetamine serving?” WHat does she have to concentrate on?

Now, it’s true that if you legitimately need Adderal, your brain processes it differently than others. Instead of giving a cocaine-like rush, it mellows you out. (Incidentally, ADD sufferers can even get mellowed out by cocaine.) But then the next question is this: is her lifestyle more similar to someone who is being stabilized by Adderal, or someone who is abusing it, like cocaine? How hard is it to find a doctor in Beverly Hills who will dispense “prescription cocaine” for his wealthy clients? (The screening process for ADD is amazingly weak, usually just an interview.)

Now, it may very well be that she legitimately suffers from ADD, and her medicine helps her focus when she is rehearsing, memorizing her lines, etc. But wouldn’t a jail sentence be an ideal time for a “drug vacation?” (Many ADD doctors recommend drug vacations, time off from using ADD medication, as they seem to prolong drug effectiveness.) Doctors could then analyze whether she crashes, or simply becomes excitable.

Why is TMZ reporting on her medical issues? Not enough to talk about? Let her take her prescribed meds as others are allowed.

A complication of ADD is drug abuse. There is a pretty high number of people with ADD who use drugs and have other problems with impulse control. They do not abuse adderal if they have ADD,,it does not stimulate them and it just doesn’t have the same effect.

Ambien is not as someone upthread said a barbiturate. It however is not so good for long term insomnia and it wouldn’t hurt for her to get off that.

But if she has ADD, she needs the meds to behave, to focus and to be organized.

That said, she is a mess.

Is she spending her day in a jail cell or is she actually getting therapy with her stay at the Kalifornia Kourtyard?

I agree that an ADD med serves no purpose when you are spending your day in a jail cell with nothing to do except playing name your toes. For sleeping, if you need Ambien to get to sleep in a nice comfy bed with 200 threadcount Egyptian cotton sheets, then you will probably need it to get to sleep on a concrete cot.

I am not advocating her taking meds. I think the doctors are capable of determining whether the activities she will participate in will require medication. Plus I wouldn’t be suprised if they added a Lexipro or some other anti-depressant.

If she has a prescription then she should be able to continue it. I also think that whoever leaked her private medical information should be fired.

It is sad to see anyone just waste away but it is only herself that will do anything about it......no matter how much anyone attempts to help her, it is only she that will will make it or break it...............

The Collie-fornia "correctional" system at work.

Incorrect. The correct thing to do would be to throw her in with the hoes and junkies, instead of private accommodations.

I don’t know why these clebs would want to take amphetamines in jail anyways.....Seems like being confined to a small area and given a stimulant would be horrible. But I bet she will have the Cleanest cell in the whole place!! LOL.... Anyhow I’m sure she’s not used to taking the recomended daily dosages as prescription drug addicts abuse their pills and use a whole months prescription in a week.

there is no reason for her to take either drug.

ADD is inconvenient, but not life threatening. Ditto for insomnia, which she probably wouldn’t need if she didn’t take Adderal.

And there are non stimulating medicines that can be used for ADD, so that’s a second reason not to give her legal “speed”.
