The biggest upset in MMA history happened tonight.
Fabricio Werdum trapped Fedor Emelianenko in an arm bar and forced the tap in the first round.
The world's #1 heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko put his reputation, but no title belt, on the line against Brazilian jiu jitsu ace Fabricio Werdum at Strikeforce: Fedor vs Werdum.
Going into the bout, a great deal of controversy swirled about whether or not Fedor, riding a ten year undefeated streak, remains the undisputed beat heavyweight in the game with the UFC's Brock Lesnar, Shane Carwin, Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez rising fast.
Fedor appeared unphased by the controversy, displaying his usual preternatural calm in the cage. Big John McCarthy, another MMA legend in exile from the UFC, reffed the match.
Werdum landed first with a glancing leg kick but it wasn't long before Fedor dropped him with a hard series of punches. Fedor lept into Werdum's guard and quickly found himself trapped by the former jiu jitsu world champion. Werdum locked up a triangle and used it to get the arm bar.

Fedor seemed a little over-rated by many. Think Lesnar would crush either of them and the Champ? Never get into the UFC because he looks seriously `roided up.

The guy hadn’t been beaten in 10 years and was number 1 since 2003. I’ve been waiting for him to lose for a while now, but only to see the mma internet go insane, not because I ever thought he was over-rated.
I don’t think he does roids though. California and the other places SF has run in do have testing. License, then pre and post fight.

Overeem? Definitely. He did test clean against Brett Rodgers though.
He’s not the tall lanky guy I remember from 2004-2005

I think he was on something at some point while fighting primarily in Japan. I don’t think he is now. I also hear from natural weightlifting circles that some guys can bulk freakishly big and faster that are gifted genetically.

He’s been fighting cans and has beens for the last 5 years, if not since 2003

Fedor is not getting any younger but still has a few years left in him and will be back.
