In case you didn't hear, Ohio lost a semi-landmark to lighting last night. A tribute to it from Heywood Banks.

I don’t find any humor in this. After this man suffered and died to make atonement for the world and loves us more than we have ever experienced...how could we make fun of Him. Especially not now...not ever.

The problem is that “carved image” was King James’ way of “translating” “molten idol.”

No, it’s making fun of Jesus. I checked out the link. And by the way, I think it was a very impressive statue.

Perhaps I’ve become a little tainted on this particular statue. I live just a few miles from it and it has become a topic of all kinds of conversation, from awe to humor. In the end I guess God had the final say on it!

It looks more like a statue of Willie Nelson.

It looks more like a statue of Willie Nelson. Well maybe before last night, now it looks more like Richard Pryor or Michael Jackson...

And no, Heywood Banks was not making fun of Christ.

In the end I guess God had the final say on it! Either God did not like the statue, or he is telling the construction crews on the Monroe exit and I-75 to "Finish up already!!!" Or both.

Its upsetting to hear the snarky comments not only here at Free Republic but also at the Cincinnati Enquirer. Everybody is getting their laughs in and meanwhile 2 miles up the road is a mosque with a 50+ foot minaret, if that had been struck would there be these comments?
My hope is that a bigger, stronger Jesus is built to replace it as soon as possible.

Touchdown Jesus! No!!!
Some of you need to pull the sharp objects out of your rear ends. I’m sure Jesus made fun of Himself from time to time.

“Im sure Jesus made fun of Himself from time to time.”
Maybe when He was hanging on the cross for instance?

Dying on the Cross wasn’t the only thing Jesus did down here, you know.
Congrats on getting married, by the way.

That's what I was thinking. I mean, he had everyone's attention. What greater stage?
Really, this statue was an embarrassment. I would quit my church and find a respectable one if they ever put up anything as stupid as the 'Big Butter Jesus'.
And, no, Heywood Banks is not making fun of Jesus.
